MOGADISHU, December 20, 2025 (Somalia Tribune) – The National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (NIEBC) has deployed ballot boxes to 523 polling centers across Mogadishu’s 16 districts in preparation for the Banadir local council elections scheduled for 25 December.

The Commission emphasized that the elections will be conducted transparently, peacefully, and in full compliance with Somalia’s electoral laws, ensuring that all political parties and candidates participate fairly.

Residents of Banadir are urged to collect their voter cards ahead of the elections. Voter card collection will continue from Monday, 22 December, and no voter will be allowed to cast a ballot without a valid card.

To support citizens, a dedicated service hotline (558) has been established to respond to inquiries regarding ballot card collection.
