MOGADISHU, December 22, 2025 (Somalia Tribune) – Somalia’s civil aviation authority has announced that Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport will be closed for one day next week due to local elections, suspending all flights in and out of the capital.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) said the airport will shut down on Thursday, December 25, 2025, as part of security and logistical measures linked to the polling process.

The authority confirmed that no aircraft movements will be permitted during the closure and advised airlines, travel agencies, and passengers to adjust their travel plans accordingly.

According to the SCAA, normal flight operations will resume once election-related restrictions are lifted. Travelers were urged to follow official announcements for any further updates.

Mogadishu authorities frequently impose temporary transport and movement restrictions during major political events, citing security considerations.
