MOGADISHU, December 22, 2025 (Somalia Tribune) – The Somali National Army (SNA) has confirmed that at least 15 Al-Shabaab militants, including three senior leaders, were killed during a ground operation carried out on Sunday in Jabad Godane, located in the Xawaadley district of the Middle Shabelle region.
In a statement, Somalia’s Ministry of Defence said the operation was launched based on credible intelligence regarding Al-Shabaab activities in the area and concluded with what it described as successful results.
According to the ministry, those killed included key figures within the group, identified as Jafar Adan, the Al-Shabaab leader in Jabad Godane; Abdirisak Ali, the group’s medical officer responsible for treating wounded fighters; and Daud, another senior operative active in the region.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Somali National Army to secure strategic areas in Middle Shabelle and weaken Al-Shabaab’s operational capacity.
The SNA reaffirmed its commitment to continuing military operations against the group, using all available resources, in coordination with international partners and local allied forces, including the Macaweesley community fighters.
