Somalia’s Interior Minister Closes Training for Female Police Special Forces

MOGADISHU, December 18, 2025 (Somalia Tribune) – Somalia’s Minister of Interior, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), on Thursday officially closed a 90-day specialized training program for female officers of the Somali Police Force.

The graduating officers are members of the sixth cohort of the elite Galleyr Special Forces, trained in advanced security and operational skills.

Addressing the ceremony, Minister Fartaag urged the officers to serve their communities and country with professionalism, stressing the importance of applying the skills gained during the course to strengthen national security.

The minister also commended the growing role of women in Somalia’s security sector, highlighting their contribution to building capable, professional, and inclusive security institutions.
