MOGADISHU, December 17, 2025 (Somalia Tribune) – The Independent Constitutional Review and Implementation Committee (ICRIC) has held a preliminary consultation with the Office of the Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia as part of ongoing efforts to review the country’s provisional constitution.
The meeting, chaired by ICRIC Chairperson Burhan Aden Omar, focused on key provisions related to the role, mandate, and independence of the Auditor General under the Finance Chapter of the constitution. Discussions examined how financial oversight and accountability mechanisms can be clearly defined and strengthened within the constitutional framework.
The consultation forms part of a broader engagement process, with the Committee planning similar meetings with all national financial institutions. These discussions aim to gather expert input and align the Finance Chapter with the Federal Finance Agreement, which governs fiscal relations between the federal government and member states.
The initiative underscores the Committee’s commitment to an inclusive, transparent, and informed constitutional review process, ensuring that Somalia’s financial governance and oversight institutions are constitutionally safeguarded.
